Scoring System
1. Methods of judging the classes
The horses will be judged at a trot, standstill and a walk in each class, following the instructions of the Ringmaster and DC. Judges will give points independently from one another and without catalogue according to the following criteria: type, head and neck, body and top-line, legs, movement, based on the 20-points-system (half points are allowed).
- Judging system with the highest and lowest marks excluded.
- The judging system where the highest and the lowest marks for each horse are excluded and the total score is counted from the remaining marks. With 7 judges in the ring.
2. Rules for Ties in Qualifying Places
In the event of a tie in the qualifying places of a class, the higher place will be given to the horse with the most points for type. If there is still a tie, the higher place will be given to the horse with the most points for movement. If the highest and lowest points are eliminated, only the remaining points for type and movement are considered in the tie break. Failing a decision on either of these, one judge chosen by ballot will name his preference.
3. Rules for ties in Championships.
In the event of a tie in the championships, the higher place will be given to the horse with the highest total points in the qualifying classes. If the highest and lowest points are eliminated, only the remaining points for total, type and movement are considered in the tie break. If there is still a tie, the rules for ties in qualifying places will be applied.
SCORING SYSTEM DESERT BRED CLASSES
Methods of judging the Non-ECAHO Classes:
- Classes will be judged comparatively by three judges.
- The Call Judge shall instruct the Ring Master prior to the start of the class on how he/she intends to run the class. The Call Judge will maintain order of the class through the Ring Master.
- All horses entered in the class shall enter the ring, at a trot, one after another, in an anti-clockwise direction and upon completing their circuit line up along the rail and wait until all horses are in the ring.
- Once all horses are in the ring, the horses will be walked collectively in an anti-clockwise circular direction using as much of the ring as is deemed necessary.
- Whilst the horses are walking, and before beginning individual inspections, the Judge shall instruct the Ring Master to call all the exhibits into a preliminary lineup. All horses remain in the show ring.
- Each horse will then be called forward for an individual inspection.
- Once all entries have been individually judged, the final evaluation will be made.
- The Judges shall judge all horses equally and not drawn attention to any exhibit’s faults.
- If a horse appears lame, the Judge may indicate to the exhibitor, through the Ring Master, that he/she considers the horse to be going unevenly and thereby to withdraw it from the class.
- The Judges shall be brisk and adapt him/herself to the time available.
- The Judges shall consider the interest of all the exhibitors, and the method of judging shall be consistent.
- Any badly-behaved horse or handler can and will be dismissed from the class.
- Handlers can only present one horse in this class.
- Judges will rank the horses individually and give their personal Top-5.
- According to their ranking horses will receive 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10 points.
- In case of a tie, the ranking of the Call Judge is the tie breaker.
